Tonight we are in Bangkok and tomorrow we leave for Luang prubang in Laos. By now my feet should be really brown and I’ll hopefully be picking up some fab footwear like these gorgeous thongs from Giuseppe Zanotti and Sigerson Morrison off Net-a-porter.

View from our flat in Cape Town.

Well I am on the plane. Finally the day has arrived! I have pre-posted you a few posts for while I am away. I don’t want my site to go completely dead for the next month.

This is where my Husband and I will be staying for the first 3 nights. Although we want to experience the countries we are going to for what they are, and don’t want to eat western cuisine and stay in westernized 5 star hotels, we have treated ourselves here and there to some resort luxury. After all, we are on our official honeymoon.

The hotel is situated on Balangan beach in Bali and we plan to do nothing for the first three days, as after that, it’s backpacks on for a while. I can’t wait to share my Indonesian finds with you.

1 oz. Cointreau 1 oz. blood-orange juice

Combine ingredients in shaker filled with ice; shake well. Strain into chilled martini glass. If desired, garnish with orange twist or blood-orange slice. From Peggy Dark, the Kitchen for Exploring Foods, Pasadena, Calif.

For my last two shoots I have been sourcing ribbon. I have a new love for ribbon. There are so many uses. Besides gifting and pigtails, decorating table settings, tying gingham bows for serviette rings or hanging bunches in your home as stripey decor.

Here is some lovely ribbon I found the other day.

After shooting my storage shoot a few weeks ago, I have found some fun things to share with you!

I love this website and visit it religiously. Design Sponge offers great storage ideas! I wish we could find some of it here in South Africa. But, I don’t think we are very far off!

magazine storage guide

mags1.JPG
there are few things i love more than a fresh stack of magazines. despite how easy (and earth-friendly) my favorite blogs and websites are, nothing beats a beautiful glossy shelter magazine with lots of full-sized pictures to inspire. the problem is, my love of magazines leads to stacks (and stacks and stacks…) around the house. if you’re like me and like to save selected volumes, you may need somewhere to store your favorite copies. so, at the request of d*s readers julie and christina i built a magazine storage guide for those of us who love and keep magazines in our homes (i think it’s safe to assume that’s most of us here). unlike furniture guides , the prices of the products in this guide are much easier on the wallet and are perfect for a wide range of budgets. i’ve included storage bags, boxes, files, shelves and wall systems. i hope you’ll find something in the group that’s right for your home. enoy! just click here to view the full selection of 40 products (or click “read more” below)
